we are love

Nadia’s uncle Dan die last friday. Dan was old school in a very good way. He worked as plumber in Norco - very hard labor for the surrounding dairy farms. Western Shirt with the sleeves rolled up, Levis, a cigarette. Very thick hair combed back. He was quiet. Danny was raised catholic and served in the Navy. He gave of his time and resources unwaveringly. There was never ulterior motive. Never self gain. Just to give because that’s who we was. Purity and ease. You never had to be anything but honest around him. There was no pretence. He was more Christian than anyone of faith i’ve even known. If I could be like anyone i would want to be more like him. I’m going to miss him.

things to do today

Ewan lies down on the grass and i cover him up with leaves. he smiles and tries not to laugh so the leaves don’t fall off his little belly. Then i lie down and he covers me (sort of). He’s totally fascinated with this so we repeat a few times until we head up stairs for diner. Mac and cheese. the diner of champions (and by champions i mean guys) everywhere. Ewan is one big glob of cheese by the end so it’s obvious that he loves it. I’m stoked because i’ve always liked it too. He likes star wars, mac & cheese and the ocean. that’s my boy. It reminds me of how immediately important our time together is. He soaks everything up. Every sight, every sound, every smell and every action. Nadia and I are his text books for the most important lessons in life.

what are you?

working on a new self motivated project titled whatareyou.

the goals are two-fold:
1. to learn CSS (cascading style sheets). this has been foremost on my mind lately and (as usual) i feel a bit late in the game. the work people are doing in CSS is really incredible. it allows for complete design control and can be dynamically driven within an interactive site.
2. to experiment in the interactivity of the web. what role will the web play in the future of communication? how do people preserve (and evolve to perceive) the web as a daily form of not just exhibitionism but of practical, useful communication.

so check it out. take a look. and let me know your thoughts on the subject.

new blog space

welcome to the new blog space. i finally got my act together and registered a URL (that’s a web address for the non tech). because all respectable designers have a web address to flaunt the mad skills.

we moved into a new place. been there for only two weeks but already it feels like home. books on the shelves, pictures on the walls and you could make a mud hut feel cozy.
