Aside from a short stint as a hockey fan a few years back I’m not one for professional sports. And sputtering ESPN related banter to co-workers is about as realistic as walking on the moom (which for a non-jock sounds very very cool). So when there’s interest in anything organized, athletic and televised it’s kind of big deal for me. But alas, Irony has struck a fatal blow. It looks like all the news that Cycling is good for is drug related! What’s the deal? Aren’t these guys suppose to be healthy. Isn’t the whole idea to be out on the open road, testing your strength against fellow competitors?

The latest in the news:
• Tour de France says it won’t accept riders who don’t sign anti-doping charter
• UCI dope-testers target Tour de France favorites
• Tour de France no longer considers Riis winner of 1996 race after doping admission

It’s like high school all over again. But a high school full of men in stretchy pants going really fast… and still doing drugs.

But none the less, I’m still looking forward to the the Tour. Or should I say Le Tour?
