Too much of a…

I’m a little overwhelmed at the amount of good (if not great) music that has recently taken residency at the Talbot house.

Radiohead - In Rainbows
Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
Handsome Furs - Plague Park
Union Of Knives - Violence And Birdsong
Spoon - Ga x 5
Fionn Regan - The End of History
David Crowder - Remedy

Now some of this might not necessarily be “new”. But “new for me” none the less. Good musicianship is alive and kicking.

The kids are alright

When was the last time you were an astronaut? How long ago was it when your bed was a pirate ship? Remember making forts in the living room out of blankets and couch pillows? I used to spend hours in the pool pretending to be a navy seal. After watching Time Bandits, friends and I made a map and would all fall “through time” into a big pile. In public! Even titling myself as a “creative” i can’t seem to get over that wall into the true world of the make-believe. Maybe I’m not suppose to. Perhaps it’s a place reserved only for the young(er). But as Ewan’s imagination becomes more and more active I constantly remind myself of the father in Peter Pan (well, maybe not THAT crabby). Give the kid a rain coat, old camel bag and a stick and he’s a fire fighter. The next minute he’s a pro ball player. And again, I’m usually left content to just watch this active imagination like a fine mix of storybook, sports and soda pop. If anything this has become a daily reminder of how beautiful living in the moment can be and how sometimes I need to stop thinking so much and just be.
