facespace

Myspace is dead? Face what? Did everyone make a planned mass migration from one to the other? For the most part I’ve been disenchanted with general social network sites for sometime. But I’ll have to admit, I’m a little embarrassed. It’s like that time I lived in Oregon in 1992 and still didn’t listen to Nirvana until 3-4 years AFTER the release of Nevermind.
But seriously, what drew you to Facebook? There are a fair number of general social networking sites out there and I’m curious as to what Facebook is doing right. I am after all a web designer (thus making this even more embarrassing). So color me enlightened. And please, don’t tell my boss.

I moved over so I wouldn’t have Jasmine or Carmel ask to be my friend. Too many naked women want to be my friend on Myspace. It’s flattering and all but my wife took some issue with it. Don’t get me wrong it is a boost to the ego, but sometimes it just felt a little in-authentic. I guess that’s one reason.

True, less fake naked women. Less bands. Easier networking. Fun apps and groups. Nonetheless it is still another way to avoid making an actual phone call, like I should do with you. Asap.

less visual noise - less astonishingly bad design elements - less pimp my page - more “this is what I’m up to”, especially with the new “News Feed” and Twitter ripoff “Status Updates”. so what are you waiting for? Virb as the Facebook killah?

I like it because you can push “Ignore” or block if you don’t want to be someone’s friend…maybe you could do that on MySpace but I like that it is cleaner than the crazy’s on MySpace. And I agree with Matt, you can avoid phone calls which is hard for mother’s with kids anyway. The second you dial the phone, the kids start screaming!
(Oh and thanks for the nice encouraging comments on my Blog Josh. And the only reason I have more to say un-inspired than you do when you are inspired is because I am long winded…see me rambling right now?!!!)
