Riding for a cause

FUNDS RAISED SO FAR: $155.00!

Friends & Family,
I hope this email finds you well.

Last year I had the opportunity to participate in Sonoma County’s inaugural Levi Leipheimer King Ridge Fondo. This is a BIG cycling event aimed at raising money for a number of local causes. Both the Fondo as well as the Tour of California have given a major boost to local business with the attention & tourism they bring to the area.

Last year there were 3,500 people riding in the event. This year they’re expecting 6,000!

Not only do we get to challenge our cycling prowess but our fund-raising skills as well. This is where you come in!

You can help me raise funds right there from the comfort of your computer chair.

Every dollar helps!

Thanks for a being a part of this with me.

Riding

For awhile now I’ve been a fan of Rapha. Cycling apparel that focuses on function as well as form. And although I’m a little miffed at the outrageous prices, I seem to find myself perusing the site every so often. Rapha Continental recently did a series of rides covering the same ground as the Tour of California. The video below not only captures thier finess but also the challenge, fun, expolration & commradory that make cycling such a great sport.

EMPIRE

When I was in Jr. high I saw a documentary on bike messengers in NYC. And ever since I’ve been somewhat enamored with them. These guys are reckless, ballsy, dangerous and (to be very honest) totally inspiring.

p.s. I’m always happy to see the random fixed gear rider sporting a helmet.

O La Langster

The Langster is here. This is a beautiful bike, lightweight and a lot of fun. Rode it to work yesterday. Clocked in around a half an hour so not that much different from the geared roadie. I’m going to remove the rear brake and replace the pedals with my clipless SPDs. Pictures to come. And he needs a name. Any suggestions?
